He promised me joy.....

He promised me joy in the midst of pain.

He promised me shelter to shield from the rain.

He promised me strength but at times I am weak.

He promised me blessings but His face I must seek.

He promised to never leave me alone,

but at times I feel lonely and far from His throne.

He owns the cattle on a thousand hills,

but I’m deep in debt and overwhelmed by bills.

He is Jehovah that will provide,

but troubles surround from every side.

However, at times of deep despair,

The Lord is Good, I know He cares.

I’m not forsaken and He’s not far,

His mercies are great and up to par.

So with courage I grasp and stand on His Word,

unmoved by these troubles my heart is unnerved.

Assured by His promise to never leave,

I walk in faith and to Him I cleave.

He promised to help me when times get tough,

when the pain seems endless, when the going gets rough.

He promised me mercy when I’m in the wrong,

He promised me healing with a joyful song.

He promised to hold me when I can’t go on,

I’m inscribed in His hands His very palm.

He promised from Heaven to descend,

to gather His children at the Time of the End.

If times seem hard for you today,

He is the Light, the Truth, the Way.
