The Courtroom in Glory

I felt my neck tighten and I started to sweat,
I sat there fidg
eting my brow was all wet.
I had been there alone to face all my crimes,
my earth time had ended, there's no vital signs.

I corrected my posture and sat up erect,
my garments were filthy, my mind was a wreck.
I believed I lived right and I did as I should,
I am a good person, I tried all I could.

"All rise", cried the Court Clerk, all stood to their feet,
that courtroom was silent,  the Judge took His seat.
The court came to order, more sweat drenched my face,
the Accuser with many files, was making his case.

He show videos and tapes of all that I've done,
pointing his fingering  shouting I  was the one.
He kept the barrage, the evidence  strong,
I could not refute them, I did all those wrongs.

The Bailiffs stood watching their names Death and Hell,
awaiting to shackle and assign me a cell.
Aware of my guilt, disgraced and ashamed,
no fingers to point, no persons to blame.

However, though dismal, in that Courtroom in Glory,
the saga continues, there's more to this story.
The Accuser now finished, he rested his case,
I sat there dejected, more sweat on my face.

My Advocate motioned with His nailed scared hands,
blood stained His garments, He leaned on the stand.
He showed in the courtroom  a video tape,
it listed the time, it listed the date.

That video showed, me on my knees,
asking for mercy, "oh Christ save me please".
The tape just continued, my knees being bent,
my Lord please forgive me, I give up, I repent.

The Advocate stated," it is finished, I'm done".
"I've rested my case, I've triumphed, I've won".
The Judge slammed the gavel, slamming it twice,
not guilty the verdict, My Son paid the price.

My little children, these things I write to you, so that you may not sin. And if anyone sins, we have an Advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous.*

hi rodney,

i love the way you paint a scene in rhyme.

a story that sways.

poetry brings the words to life, and makes them almost 3D.

keep up the good work, and don't stop writing,

my best to you,
